The Tubkaek Resort
This resort has a good reputation as a romantic luxury hideaway resort. It is located in Klong Muang, 15 miunutes drive from Ao Nang. Some people will like Klong Muang, others will loath it, click here for more on Klong Muang.
Hotel lobbies are not normally places to tarry but, in The Tubkaak’s lobby, you may find that the need to get the check-in formalities over with is not felt as urgently as normal. Spacious and airy, boasting an almost 360° view of the beachside jungle in which the resort is located, this lobby is simply fabulous, and sets a high standard which the rest of the resort succesfully lives up to.
Water features abound throughout the resort, amidst intriguing examples of Asian art and sculpture. Water lilies drift over the surface of the placid pools dotted along the sides of the shady walkways that criss-cross the resort.
The Tubkaek is situated in a very quiet location, with no traffic noise. Primarily a resort for romance, it is also suitable to bring small children along to, but older kids and teenagers will bore quickly. The main draw of this resort is its wonderful setting on beautiful and sparsely populated Tubkaek Beach, offering stunning views of the Phang Nga bay. Tubkaak Resort certainly the most exclusive feel of any hotel or resort on Tubkaek Beach, except the 6 star Phulay Bay.
Free wifi is available anywhere in the resort. We saw a modestly equipped gym,a gift shop, and a guest library boasting a bar. The spa is decorated in a typically elegant Thai fashion, with pleasing contemporary touches of art and architecture. The extensive range of treatments is reasonably priced.
The large, beautifully shaped lagoon-style pool is suitable for small children thanks to its large, wide steps at the shallow end. It is large enough so adults can get some exercise in it. We spotted a jacuzzi in the middle. There's one restaurant in the resort, offering Thai, Western and Southern-Thai food. The beach is not rocky and swimming can be enjoyed at all times, although the water gets shallow at low tide
These rooms are on the first (and top) floor. Some overlook the pool, while others overlook the garden. The poolview rooms offer a more entertaining view and are more popular.
You can see a picture of the tiny bath a little further down this page. If you like to take lots of baths, you are advised to book somewhere else.
The above rates are net per room per night and inclusive of all taxes and charges, and breakfast for 2 people.
